WTA will organise its 10th General Assembly in 2016 and is calling upon its members to nominate a venue.
WTA is currently preparing the 9th General Assembly that will take place in Daejeon, Republic of Korea on 12-14 November 2014, hosted by WTA and Daejeon Metropolitan City.
To improve the preparation process and facilitate the hosts in raising funds, WTA expects to nominate your city as a host city of 10th General Assembly.
Since its founding in 1998, WTA General Assembly has been organised in the following locations:
• 1st General Assembly in 1998
Daejeon, Republic of Korea
• 2nd General Assembly in 2000
Nanjing, China
• 3rd General Assembly in 2002
Monterrey, Nuevo Leon State, Mexico
• 4th General Assembly in 2004
Uppsala, Sweden
• 5th General Assembly in 2006
Brisbane, Australia
• 6th General Assembly in 2008
Daejeon, Republic of Korea
• 7th General Assembly in 2010
Hsinchu, Chinese Taipei
• 8th General Assembly in 2012
Gliwice, Poland
WTA General Assembly is usually organised in autumn and attracts roughly 2-300 delegates, representing more than 30 member cities, universities and organizations, giving the host city a unique opportunity to present themselves to expert group of Science & Technology including central/local government officials, scholars/researchers and entrepreneurs from all over the world. WTA General Assembly is normally comprises of Executive Board Meeting, WTA University Presidents¡¯ Forum, WTA Mayors¡¯ Forum, International Conference and General Assembly. Regional UNESCO-WTA Workshop also can be co-hosted optionally.
Minimum room requirements are as follows:
• One main hall seating at least 200 persons for General Assembly
• One room seating 25 persons for Executive Board Meeting
• One lecture room seating 100 persons for University Presidents¡¯ Forum
• One lecture room seating 100 persons for Mayors¡¯ Forum
• One lecture room seating 200 persons for International Conference
• One lecture room seating 100 persons for UNESCO-WTA Workshop (optional)
• One secretariat room seating 10 persons
To nominate your city, please write an application that outlines why you wish to host the 10th WTA General Assembly. The WTA Executive Board will select candidates for presentation and voting that will be conducted in 9th General Assembly. The result will be announced at the farewell dinner on 13th November.
Selected nominees are invited to give a 10 minute presentation at the 9th General Assembly. Budgets and other information about past events can be made available for planning purposes upon request.
The Host city of 10th General Assembly will organise the Executive Board Meeting in September (tentative) 2015 for site inspection and advance preparation for the programs.
Proposals should include:
• Overview of facilities of the proposed venue
• Overview of local institutional engagement and support for the local organizer
• Possible arrangements for social events (including welcome reception and farewell dinner)
• Options for accommodation (with provisional costs)
• Travel information
• A provisional budget, with a provisional registration fee
• Options for payment (credit card, foreign currency etc.) for registration
